Supported File Format

All applications in the ProfExam suite use the .VCEX file format. This is a unified, cross-platform format compatible with:

  • ProfExam Creator (exam editor)
  • ProfExam Simulator for desktop (Windows, macOS, and Linux)
  • ProfExam Simulator for mobile devices

Unlike the legacy .EXAM format, a single .VCEX file can be opened and used across different ProfExam applications on any of the supported platforms without any prior modification.

Unsupported Legacy Formats

The following file formats are no longer supported:

  • .VCE - completely unsupported.
  • .EXAM - legacy format used in ProfExam version 7 and later.

These files cannot be opened or imported directly in current versions of ProfExam Creator or ProfExam Simulator.

Converting Legacy Files

If you need to convert an older .EXAM file to the new .VCEX format, please send the file to our support team and request a conversion.
